Day 239 (Thursday, Aug. 28) Beer 238 EBC Nut Brown Ale, Ellicottville Brewing Company, Ellicottvile,New York

Played a game of golf and then stopped at the Pink Elephant Winery and an EBC outlet and bar in Fredonia to have a sample or two and pick up a six pack of Nut Brow Ale to try. This one is an English Brown Ale. They tend to be maltier and sweeter on the palate, with a fuller body. Color can range from reddish brown to dark brown. Some versions will lean towards fruity esters, while others tend to be drier with nutty characters. All seem to have a low hop aroma and bitterness. Other beers of this style
include Newcastle Nut Brown Ale and Southern Pecan ( Jan. 26, Beer 26, 3.8/5)

This one poured an amber/copper colour with a nice tan colored head with some slightly sticky lacing. the aroma is caramel and nuts, pecans and cashews. The taste
is sweet malt, caramel toffee and burnt sugar with a hint of hops and a dark chocolate, coffee and nut finish. Overall not bad but not in the class of southern pecan 3.6 out of 5
